On December 12, 2009 The Aliah Sweet Fragile Hearts Foundation and the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center collaborated to throw a Holiday party & Toy Give A way on the lovely Junior Blind of America Campus.
ASFHF founder Ariel Sweet got the party started in a big way by sharing sage words of encouragement as only a sibling can share. “I want to remind you all that only sibs of special kids can really make people see our brothers and sisters the way God sees them. You and I get to share the love and pride we feel & it is pretty cool…”
Cheery little faces were painted with butterflies, hearts, stars and anything imagined, celebrities hula hooped & joined in games, magician “Ice” Mc Donald dazzled, a jolly Santa posed for pictures so that memories don’t fade and there were crafts and goodies galore to please lots of deserving kids.
Volunteers donning elves hats & antlers trekked in the rain to champion the cause. Actresses Rhyon Brown, “Lincoln Heights” Family Channel and Teal Marchand, Nickelodeon helped SCLARC volunteers in the creativity and crafts booth. Congresswoman Maxine Waters and husband Ambassador Sidney Williams (Cleveland Browns) stopped by with words of support for the families. NFL greats Harold Jackson, Rams; Steve Wright, Raiders; Shelby Jordan, Raiders; Marv Smith, Rams; Carver Shannon, Rams; Grady Richardson, Redskins; Ricky Ellis, Seahawks; Sheppard Porter, Negro Baseball League joined activities and signed autographs. Every child left with bags full of cool toys, sweet treats and wonderful memories to share.
An enormous thank you to all of our amazing
